  2. HD INSTALLER FOR SWOS 96/97

  6. Using this program you can install Sensible World of Soccer onto your HD
  7. This is version 2.0 of the installer. Now the code is completely
  8. rewritten and it's based on original ssboot by Sensible Software
  9. not on an old HD installer by Sentinel.
  10.  
  11. Features:
  12. - SWOS 96/97 full version and update disks supported.
  13. - easy way of installation (supplied installer script).
  14. - an icon included.
  15.  
  16. Requirements:
  17. - 3 meg of RAM (tested on 2MB Chip / 4MB Fast) on A1200 with FastMem,
  18.   on A1200 with Blizzard-IV 030 and A1200 with Blizzard 1240T-ERC.
  19. - hard disk (if you haven't one, why have you downloaded it?)

  21. Using:
  22. First of all you have to have an "Installer" utility somewhere in your
  23. system path.  I think the best place for it is C:  directory.  Then you can
  24. run installer script by clicking on an "SWOS Install" icon.  Now you can
  25. set the directory where the game should be installed, choose the version of
  26. SWOS, insert SWOS disks and wait.

  28. Disclaimer:
  29. This program has been tested and it seems to work properly.  However
  30. authors are not responsible for any loss of data, damages to software or
  31. hardware that may result directly or indirectly from the use of this
  32. program.  I can't guarantee, that my installer works with all (especially
  33. pirated) versions of SWOS.  However it should work with originals.  And
  34. remember, if you really believe in Amiga and you want software companies to
  35. continue developing their Amiga products, please, buy the original.

  42. in Aminet /pub/aminet/game/patch/SWOSEd.lha. It's worth a look! Download it!

  46. MC68040 PROBLEMS
  47.  
  48. Previous versions of the installer caused SWOS to run in slow motion
  49. on MC68040 processors. It's fixed now, but you mustn't run SetPatch
  50. before running SWOS. I suggest to prepare a boot disk as described
  51. below.

  55. CORRUPTED DISPLAY
  56.  
  57. SWOS  comes  to  you  in  two versions:  for ECS/OCS and AGA machines.  AGA
  58. version may produce corrupted display under some conditions.  If you have
  59. this problem on your machine, try running SWOS from a boot disk.  It worked
  60. on my computer.

  64. IMPORTANT NOTE

  66. Don't format, delete or do whatever with your original SWOS disks.
  67. Sometimes you'll have to insert these disk to floppy drive (when you
  68. start training for example).  I have tried but I can't do anything to fix
  69. this.

  73. BOOT DISK

  75. Even if your Amiga has 6MB of RAM, sometimes SWOS can't be loaded properly
  76. because of memory fragmentation, an error message appears, or ECS/OCS
  77. version is loaded even if you have an AGA machine.  How to solve this
  78. problem?  Very simple.  Prepare a special boot disk.
  79.   1. Format a diskette and make it bootable (use C:Install command)
  80.   2. Create a drawer called "s" on this disk
  81.   3. Create a file called "startup-sequence" in this drawer using your
  82. favourite text editor.  It should look like this:

  84. Cd Work:Games/SWOS  ; specify a path where SWOS is installed on your HD here

  87.   4. Every time you want to play SWOS, boot your Amiga from this boot disk.

  106. What is prayware?  Well, you can use this program without any restrictions,
  107. freely copy it etc., but...  you have to pray God for help for the new
  108. Champions of Poland - Widzew Lodz - to play well and to be the champions of
  109. Poland again.  That's all.

  116. installer (it didn't work on non-AGA machines).

  121. Thanks to Piotr Cieniak.  I got many signals from Blizzard users, that they
  122. can run only ECS version of the game even on AGA machines, but I couldn't
  123. fix this, since I don't have Blizzard.  Piotr owns this turbo card and let
  124. me test my HD installer on his machine.
